When the airplane wheels touched the JFK asphalt I felt I was already into this excitement: being in Manhattan is itself a unique feeling even if you wont visit all of the hundred attractions, you just feel that you are mentally at the Rome of Julius Caesar, the center of the knowing world.

I spent around 6-8 hours per day walking at the streets, seeing places that I had see in movies, taking photos, tasting local and international kitchen. The amazing museums, MET, MOMA and Guggenheim were my cultural stops as well as the excellent Broadway musical "Chicago".

It was a surprise for me how friendly and helpful the NY people are. During the 9 days being, 3 times people offered to help me at streets just because they read my troubled face on the map, or even offer to help me decide on a patisserie window over hundred kind of cakes. We the greeks are very proud of our hospitality but I could never imagine such a friendly behavior in the streets of Athens.

In the other side, I didn't like that much the behavior of the salesmen at the most of the shops. There was a cold arrogance in their faces that I couldn't understand however most of them were effective on covering my needs. Some of them were very warm however they were so artificially "friendly" that they made me feel that they see me just as a bag of money or a victim of their selling techniques.

I will never forget the taste of the delicious lobster spaghetti on Sofia's Cucina at Little Italy district or the feeling of the sun on my face, chatting with Casper at the Battery park with the Statue of Liberty waving on us at the horizon. The night with the huge Hammer limousine with my friends and colleagues from Denmark who I was traveling with, was a unique experience as well as sketching sculptures Degas dancers at the MET museum.

The World Trade Center Tribute museum was one of the most emotional moments of my life. You cant hold your tears watching the wall of the photos of the people died or the paintings of the little children about this tragedy. Im just hoping that many other victims of genocides and other human brutality actions around the world could have museums like this where so much pain is gathered to remind us how low the human race can fall.

One year at Malmö

It has been almost one year since I left Stockholm and actually since my last post here. Starting a new life is not an easy thing but its really exciting and I regret nothing so far. Im living at Malmö, Sweden and working at Copenhagen, Denmark, two beautiful cities, two wonderful countries and one huge bridge-symbol in the middle taking me from home to work and back to work every day.

I already feel a kind of vindication about my decision to leave my homeland Greece back at 2007. I work for an ascendant web design agency, where one of the primary objects is to make employees feel part of a family and be productive using just their own will and a team consciousness. Besides I really believe that during the new era we entered after the global financial crisis, strong human values as trust and faith inside the company-related people will be better to invest, instead on easy and fast profit of money that can easily fly away buy a market crisis or a wrong investment.

However the most important thing I found here in south Scandinavia is a girl that gives me tones of energy just being by my side or smiling to me, a girl that makes me want to spent my whole life trying to give her all the happiness of the world. She is a very special girl with the biggest heart which is only beating when she is sure that she made happy all people that surround her.

Princess of my heart you bring the color in my life and you are the reason that I wake up every morning with smile.

Bye bye Stockholm

After 6 months I had to leave Stockholm. Unfortunately I wasnt 100% free to enjoy it becouse of work load - oh yes I had my laptop with me :( - but I m quite satisfy from everything I saw those 5 days.

3 images are printed strongly into my head:

1. The last painting of Van Gogh, "Wheatfield with Crows" probably his deliberate goodbye to the world. I was seeing the paint which contains all his sorrow and disappointment as he wanted to goodbye us.

2. The sorrowfull stare of the beautifull girl behind the window somewere at the Red District Area, just before she smile to me as I was walking by the window.
